As NaNoWriMo approaches—just 15 hours, 1 minutes, 43 seconds away, not that I am counting—my only concern is that I am flying by the seat of my pants.

Cecilia and I are used to plotting, planning, researching, organizing our stories. We spend countless hours discussing characters, events, scenes and dig deep into the science and technology of things before writing our stories.

With NaNoWriMo, not only I am writing on my own, but I am planless, plotless and feeling on edge. The reason being the many other responsibilities we have both of personal and work related. In addition to the average 1667 words we have to write daily in order to achieve the 50K magic number within the 30 day mark, Cecilia and I are currently deep into editing Countermeasure, the first book of the series; already into chapter one of To Russia With Love, second book of that series; have several small projects sitting on the sidelines; and handling the marketing and advertising of our first two published shorts. Needless to say, it’s been overwhelming.

I am definitely looking forward to the month ahead with a mix of anticipation and dread, hoping that whatever comes out of it might be something Cecilia and I can polish down the road. The goal is to write with abandon. That’s what I’ll do. Abandon myself to the literary challenge and enjoy every second of the way to the 50K target. It’ll be a great ride….
