It's that time again when you think back on everything that took place since the beginning of the year and, if you are like me, you analyze your successes and failures, you dissect each one, and you learn from them all.

This year was a turning point in my life. Although Cecilia and I started our partnership back in 2010, we only made the move toward independent publishing this past January when we published our first novel, Countermeasure, under both our names and under our own label, Éire Publishing, LLC.

2012 was a year of ups and downs, mostly ups than downs I must stress. We had the amazing opportunity to meet and exchange thoughts and ideas with great authors we admired from the distance in the past. This year we sought information and learned a lot (A LOT) about publishing and marketing. About publishing because we do understand the responsibilities we took in our hands when we decided to jump in the Indie wagon. Understanding the rules of independent publishing in and out is a requirement for those who want to do it the right way so we did our due diligence and dug out information on all the aspects of the business. About marketing because it's a necessity aside from being one of the most intimidating and confusing parts of indie publishing. With the help of workshops and a huge amount of research, we have been able to jump into social media without fear, advertise without annoying readers and other authors, and create a recognizable brand for future publications.

Most importantly, the year was generous and brought us many new good friends. Many of those are readers who fell in love with our stories and approached us without fear because they know we are always open to make new friends, have a good laugh with anyone willing to share one, and join in a good conversation.

As for my goals for 2013? I only have one. To continue this journey with Cecilia. It's been a great ride and I can only imagine the view at the end of this long road is as amazing as the scenery along the path we've taken so far.
