For years I would read books by my favorite authors and, once finished, wonder what my story would be like if I wrote it.
Many years later I was given the chance to try my hand at writing story lines in a role playing group and found that I enjoyed it tremendously. It was a month into it that I met my writing partner and together we found a great enjoyment in writing those story lines together. Eventually that led to a brainstorm session and the idea to write a full fledge novel—a lifelong dream for both of us.
The experience has been very rewarding. The laughter and support we have shared, unforgettable. We offset each other and push each other to even greater heights in the telling of it. The thrill of outlining the story, scenes, settings, and the characters themselves is an adventure. But the true thrill is when the characters throw you a curve ball and take the story in a different direction, forcing you to scramble to catch up.
I know longer wonder what my story would be like. I am now fulfilling a dream I had long ago. I also just happen to be lucky enough to find someone, a kindred soul, a complement to my writing self to share the journey with. I love our stories, what author doesn’t love their own most days, and look forward to sharing more of them with others.
