We have known Dylan for a while. She was one of the many wonderful writers we have met in our journey to authordom. When Dylan met Shawn, a spark was created and they have maintained that spark shining bright with their collaborative work. We would like to introduce them to our friends through the following Q&A session. Enjoy!
Q. How long have you been writing?
Shawn: I have been writing seriously for about one year.
Dylan: I have also been writing about one year.
Q. How long have you been a published author?
To date we are both unpublished but hope to be very soon.
Q. What titles do you have available?
We currently have two short stories available through our combined efforts, Men Don't Write Romance and Love Thy Neighbor. In addition, Moonwalker Book I is complete. By the end of January 2012 we will have our first combined novella ready – Dipped in Chocolate. Our first collaborative novel Spark will soon be ready as well.
Q. What made you choose vampires as the subject of your novels/novellas?
Dylan: We know vampires. We have read a lot of books in the paranormal genre and it just seemed natural for us to use all the knowledge we have gained and put a great twist on it. We have three vampire series all with different types of vampires. The stories that do not include vampires are stories that just spoke to us. We have a connection to all of our stories.
Q. Do you have any new titles coming soon?
Shawn: We have so many ideas floating around and we are anxious to get started on them. Some are in the paranormal genre, others are romance stories with a twist. We also plan on doing a series of short romance stories.
Q. What is your favourite genre and why?
Shawn: I truly enjoy paranormal romance and fantasy because it takes me away into a world that I know is not for real and makes it real for me. The escape from the everyday is a huge draw. When I venture out to other genres I usually lean toward suspense and mystery.
Dylan: I like paranormal. World building is a great way to capture imagination and it gives freedom to go wherever your mind takes you.
Q. What, to you, is the most exciting part of the writing process?
Shawn: For me it has to be letting the words flow and turning out more than I expected – that combined with sharing it with Dylan and getting her reactions.
Dylan: Having a final project. Being able to look at it and go "I did it!"
Q. If you could co-author a book with anyone, who would you choose and why?
Dylan: Chris Almeida. Why? Because it would be perfect. Every minute detail would be exact and it would also be fun. Never pass up an opportunity to get on his nerves.
Shawn: Besides working with Dylan, my first choice would be Lara Adrian because her books brought me into a new world. Without reading her I would never have met and began writing with Dylan.
